Territorial Boundaries and Technical Description
- Detailed territorial boundaries are established and defined by specific directional lines adjoining neighboring barangays and municipalities, including the Verde Island Passage to the north.
- The technical description includes precise bearings and distances for boundary lines, totaling an area of approximately 47,502,397 square meters.
Plebiscite Conduct and Legal Compliance
- The plebiscite held and supervised by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), pursuant to Provincial Resolution No. 124, series of 2013, ratified the creation of Barangay Sta. Maria.
- The plebiscite results proclaimed on September 13, 2014, satisfy the plebiscite requirements under Section 10 of Republic Act No. 7160 (Local Government Code of 1991).
Continuity of Barangay Officials
- The incumbent barangay officials of Barangay Sta. Maria shall continue to serve until their duly elected and qualified successors assume office.
Transfer and Administration of Public Infrastructure
- All public infrastructure and facilities existing at the time of this Act’s approval are transferred without cost or compensation to Barangay Sta. Maria.
- The barangay shall administer these facilities and infrastructure.
Entitlement to Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA)
- Barangay Sta. Maria is entitled to receive its Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) shares in accordance with Section 285 of Republic Act No. 7160.
Effectivity
- The Act takes effect fifteen (15) days after its publication either in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation.
Additional Legal Notes
- The Act was passed with concurrence from both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
- It lapsed into law on April 27, 2019, in accordance with the Constitution, without the President’s signature.
