Certificate of registration and display (Section 21)

  • Every applicant who satisfactorily passes the required examination must be issued a certificate of registration as Medical Technologist (Section 21).
  • A certificate of registration is not issued to any successful applicant who has not attained the age of twenty-one years (Section 21, proviso).
  • Certificates of registration must be signed by all the members of the Board and attested by its Secretary (Section 21).
  • Duly registered medical technologists must display their certificate of registration in place where he works (Section 21).

Registration without examination (Section 21)

  • The Board must issue a certificate of registration without examination to certain qualified applicants who meet the conditions and timelines stated in Section 21.
  • For applications filed after the approval of this Act and not later than ninety days after the Board shall have been fully constituted, the Board must issue a certificate without examination (Section 21).
  • The no-examination certificate applies to persons who have graduated with Bachelor of Science in Hygiene and/or Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from duly recognized schools of medical technology in the Philippines or foreign countries, and who have actually practiced medical technology for at least three years prior to filing, in laboratories in the Philippines or in foreign countries duly accredited by the Bureau of Research and Laboratories, Department of Health (Section 21).
  • The no-examination certificate applies to other persons who have graduated from other paramedical professions and who are already civil service eligible by authority of the other boards of profession, and who have actually performed medical technology practice for at least five years prior to filing (Section 21).

Board fees and payment rules (Section 22)

  • The Board shall charge PHP 50 for each applicant for examination and registration (Section 22).
  • Of the PHP 50, PHP 10 must be for registration (Section 22).
  • For each certificate of registration issued without prior examination under the Act, the Board shall charge PHP 25 (Section 22).
  • For issuance of a new certificate to replace a certificate lost, destroyed, or mutilated, the Board shall charge PHP 10 (Section 22).
  • All such fees must be paid to the disbursing officer of the Civil Service Commission (Section 22).
  • The Civil Service Commission disbursing officer must pay from the receipts all authorized expenses of the Board, including the compensation of each Board member (Section 22).
