Expanded Definition and Credit of Active Service for Retirement
- Amends subsection (a) of Section 9 of Republic Act No. 340.
- Active service credit includes:
- Service as commissioned or enlisted personnel in Philippine Constabulary, Regular or Reserve Philippine Army or Armed Forces, Philippine National Guard.
- Cadetship in Philippine Constabulary or Philippine Military Academy.
- Attendance at US Military/Naval Academy or Philippine/American Air Forces Flying School.
- Recognized guerrilla service.
- Training service including trainee and probationary officer statuses, and summer camp training.
- Provides constructive service credit from graduation where commission was delayed before 1936 due to no fault of officer.
- Reserve officers integrated or appointed to regular force can opt for service credit equivalent to upper or equivalent class graduates.
- Officers in separate rosters without academy graduates get similar constructive service credit.
- Service credited under these provisions does not count toward gratuity or retirement pay calculations.
- Retirement remains optional after completion of 20 years of service.
Effectivity Clause
- The amendments take effect immediately upon approval on June 22, 1957.
