Amending RA 300 Franchise for Radiotelephone System

Section 1 amends the title of Republic Act No. 300 to read: “An Act granting C. Alcantara & Sons, Inc., a temporary permit to establish, maintain and operate private fixed point-to-point, ship, or barge to shore and shore to ship or barge, and ship or launch to barge or launch or barge to ship radiotelephone stations for the transmission and reception of wireless messages to and from said stations.”
The permitted system includes private fixed point-to-point radiotelephone stations.

The permitted system includes stations for ship or launch to barge and launch or barge to ship communications.
The communications authorized are for the transmission and reception of wireless messages to and from the radiotelephone stations.

Section 2 amends Section 1 of Republic Act No. 300.
The franchise holder is C. Alcantara & Sons, Inc., a one hundred per cent Filipino corporation.
The main office of the corporation is at Alsons Wood Processing Integrated Complex, Room 7, Lanang, Davao City.
The grant extends to the corporation’s successors or assigns.

Section 2 authorizes C. Alcantara & Sons, Inc. to establish, maintain, and operate private fixed point-to-point, ship or barge to shore and shore to ship or barge, and ship or launch to barge or launch or barge to ship radiotelephone stations.
The operations cover radiotelephone stations “for the transmission and reception of wireless messages to and from stations.”
The operations include communications involving the corporation’s vehicles and boats.

Section 2 limits the initial operational coverage to Davao City.
Section 2 extends coverage to other parts of the Philippines where the corporation maintains or may hereafter maintain offices or establishments.
The extension applies to locations connected to the corporation’s logging and sawmill business.
The corporation’s offices or establishments are the basis for deploying and operating radiotelephone stations in those locations.

Section 2 makes the permit subject to the approval of the Secretary of Public Works and Communications.
The approval requirement governs the operation “for the transmission and reception of wireless messages to and from stations.”

Section 3 provides that Republic Act No. 6123 takes effect upon its approval.
