Special Provisions for Jungle Town and Engineer's Hill

  • Cottages and lots in Jungle Town and Engineer's Hill shall be sold at a price fixed by the Committee on Appraisal.
  • Payment for such properties can be made in ten yearly installments.
  • The present lessee or occupant who has continuously leased or occupied the property for at least three years prior to the Act’s approval has the right to purchase the property.
  • This right must be exercised within six months upon written notification.
  • If the lessee/occupant refuses or does not respond within the period, the property will be sold by public auction like other properties.
  • If a lot or cottage is excluded from sale because the lot is needed under Section 2, the occupant or lessee shall be assigned another lot in Jungle Town or Engineer’s Hill, which shall be sold under the same terms.

Restrictions on Government Officials and Employees

  • Government officials, employees, or their family members are barred from purchasing any cottages and lots, including furniture and equipment.
  • Any sale made to such persons shall be considered void.
  • An exception exists for government officials or employees who have continuously occupied and leased the property for at least five years before the Act’s approval and who do not own residential property in Baguio.
  • Such individuals are allowed to purchase the property and are given preference in the sale.

Implementation and Effectivity

  • The Act amending Sections 3 and 4 of Republic Act No. 1361 took effect upon approval.
  • The amendment was enacted without Executive approval, dated June 21, 1969.
