Tenure and Renewal of Residency Appointments
- Initial appointment period for residency is one year.

Maximum Duration of Residency
- Total duration of residency appointments is capped at three years.
- This three-year limit includes any prior service as a resident in any clinical department or section of any government training hospital.
- The three-year limitation applies exclusively to residency appointments made after the effectivity of this Act.
Authority to Designate Training Hospitals
- The Secretaries of Health and National Defense have authority to designate which medical training hospitals fall under their respective departments.
Effectivity
- The Act became effective immediately upon approval on June 22, 1957.
