Discretionary Grant of Vacation Leave
- Vacation leave is granted after at least six months of continuous, faithful, and satisfactory service.
- The grant of vacation leave is at the discretion of the President, proper head of department, or chief of office (in the case of municipal employees).
- The entitlement is for fifteen days of vacation leave with full pay per calendar year of service.
- The computation of vacation leave excludes Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
Sick Leave Entitlement
- In addition to vacation leave, employees are entitled to fifteen days of sick leave with full pay for each year of service.
- Sick leave also excludes Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays in its computation.
- Sick leave is granted only on account of sickness to the employee or a member of his immediate family.
- Approval authority for sick leave lies with the President, head of department or independent office concerned, or chief of office (for municipal employees).
Restrictions and Conditions
- The law excludes certain government-owned or controlled corporations specified in other statutes from its coverage.
- The leave benefits are conditioned on satisfactory and faithful service for a continuous period of at least six months.
Effective Date
- The amendments provided by this Act take effect upon approval on June 17, 1960.
