  • Sick leave is granted only on account of sickness to the employee or a member of his immediate family.
  • Approval authority for sick leave lies with the President, head of department or independent office concerned, or chief of office (for municipal employees).

Restrictions and Conditions

  • The law excludes certain government-owned or controlled corporations specified in other statutes from its coverage.
  • The leave benefits are conditioned on satisfactory and faithful service for a continuous period of at least six months.

Effective Date

  • The amendments provided by this Act take effect upon approval on June 17, 1960.
