Minimum Wage for Agricultural Workers
- Employers operating farm enterprises must pay minimum wages as prescribed under Section 42 of Republic Act No. 3844.
- Farm tenancy and domestic servants are expressly excluded from the coverage of this Act.
Minimum Wage Rates for Government Employees
- Effective July 1, 1965, government laborers and workers' minimum wages are:
- National government: Six pesos per day.
- Provinces and cities:
- First and second class: Six pesos per day.
- Third and fourth class: Five pesos per day.
- Other classes: Minimum fixed by respective local governments, not less than four pesos.
- Municipalities:
- First and second class: Six pesos per day.
- Third and fourth class: Five pesos per day.
- Other classes: Minimum fixed by respective local governments, not less than four pesos.
Valuation of Meals and Housing as Part of Compensation
- Until further determination, meals are valued at:
- Fifty centavos per meal for agricultural employees.
- Seventy centavos per meal for other covered employees.
- Housing is valued at:
- Fifty centavos daily for agricultural workers.
- Eighty centavos daily for other covered employees.
Regulation on Piece-Work or Contract Work
- The Secretary of Labor may investigate compliance with the Act with respect to compensation by labor contractors.
- On petition, investigations and findings must be issued at the beginning of each fiscal year.
Repeal of Inconsistent Laws
- Any prior laws conflicting with provisions of this Act are repealed.
Effectivity
- The Act takes effect immediately upon approval.
