- Teaching mechanical engineering at a recognized institution may count as active practice.
Repealed Provisions
- Subparagraph (d-2) of Section sixteen and Section seventeen repealed, simplifying certain qualification requirements.
Applicant Qualifications for Mechanical Engineer Examination
- Minimum age of eighteen; license issued only after age twenty-one.
- Good reputation and moral character required.
- Degree from recognized institutions with at least four-year mechanical engineering course.
Examination Scope and Alternative Registration
- Professional mechanical engineer exam is testimonial (experience and report submission).

Authorized Field of Practice and Prohibitions
- Only professional mechanical engineers may prepare plans, designs, and perform professional services.
- Professional or mechanical engineers may supervise construction and act in related services.
- Certified plant mechanics may operate plant equipment below 300 horsepower with restrictions.
- Operation of plants 300 horsepower or more restricted to mechanical or professional mechanical engineers.
Required Mechanical Plant Personnel
- Plants 50-299 horsepower require at least one certified plant mechanic or mechanical engineer; additional shifts require additional personnel.
- Plants 300 horsepower or more require a mechanical or professional mechanical engineer per shift.
Mandatory Plan Preparation and Construction Supervision
- Mechanical works over 50 horsepower must have plans and supervision by registered professional or mechanical engineers.

Regulation of Firms and Corporations Practicing Mechanical Engineering

Transitional Provisions for Mechanical Plant Engineers
