Penalties Imposed
- The penalty prescribed is prision mayor, which is a medium to maximum term of imprisonment under Philippine law.
- In addition to imprisonment, if the offender is a public officer or employee, including those working in government-owned or controlled corporations, an additional penalty is imposed.
Special Penalty for Public Officers
- Public officers or employees found guilty shall suffer the penalty of temporary absolute disqualification.
- This penalty prohibits the offender from holding any public office or employment temporarily.
Implementation and Enforcement
- The Act took effect immediately upon approval on December 24, 1980.
- It amended specifically Article 340 of the Revised Penal Code to refine the legal approach to corruption of minors related to prostitution and related crimes.
