Purposes of the Appropriated Fund
- To support scientific and economic research on fishes, sponges, and other aquatic resources.
- To disseminate knowledge among Filipino fishermen.
- To study, improve, and propagate aquatic species suitable for Philippine waters.
- To establish and maintain experimental stations, fish farms, aquariums, and culture laboratories.
- To provide practical instruction on fish culture, efficient fishing methods, preservation, and fisheries management including canneries.
- To foster, propagate, and protect all aquatic resources including fishes, shells, and sponges.
Utilization and Coverage of the Fund
- Fund use includes construction, maintenance, and repair of relevant infrastructure such as buildings, vessels, and dams.
- Purchase of materials and equipment, including apparatus, chemicals, and supplies.
- Compensation for personnel including salaries, wages, and travel expenses.
- Other necessary expenses for effective implementation of the Act’s objectives.
Financial Management and Carryover Provision
- The allocated funds are automatically appropriated annually starting fiscal year 1949.
- Any unexpended balance at year-end shall not revert to the National Treasury but remain available for the same purposes.
Special Provision for Fiscal Year 1949
- Any difference in funding during fiscal year 1949 from the fixed maximum shall be managed via a special budget under Commonwealth Act No. 246 section 7-l-(4).
Effective Date
- The Act takes effect immediately upon approval.
