Consideration of Religious Beliefs
- Courts must consider the religious faith of the minor and their immediate family.
- Ensures minors are not committed to institutions outside their religious sect or denomination.
Reporting and Supervision
- Custodians must submit written reports at least every four months on the minor's conduct and progress.
- Additional reports may be required for special cases.
Extension or Shortening of Suspension
- Courts may adjust the suspension period based on recommendations from welfare authorities or school representatives.
- Adjustments depend on minor's behavior and compliance with imposed conditions.
Temporary Placement Outside Institutions
- With approval from the Director of Public Welfare, minors may be placed under the care of responsible persons outside of institutions.
- Such placements remain subject to condition compliance.
Final Release or Judgment After Suspension
- Proper behavior and compliance lead to court ordering the minor's final release.
- Misconduct or incorrigibility results in the court rendering judgment corresponding to the committed crime.
Financial Responsibility for Maintenance
- Maintenance costs may be borne partly or wholly by parents, relatives, or those legally liable if they can pay.
- If indigent or not ordered to pay, expenses are divided: one-third by municipality, one-third by province, one-third by national government.
- If municipality cannot pay, the national government assumes that share.
- Chartered cities pay two-thirds; inability to pay leads to withholding of internal revenue allotments.
Appropriations for Implementation
- An annual appropriation of fifty thousand pesos from the Philippine Treasury is provided.
Effective Date
- The Act takes effect on January 1, 1937.
