Law Summary

Enhanced Penalty for Coercion Related to Suffrage and Religious Acts

  • If coercion violates the right to vote or compels or prevents religious acts, the penalty to be imposed is one degree higher than the standard penalty for grave coercions.

Repeal of Conflicting Provisions

  • Section 261, Paragraphs (d)(1) and (2), Article XXII of Batas Pambansa Blg. 881 are repealed.
  • All other election laws, decrees, executive orders, rules, regulations, or parts inconsistent with this Act are likewise repealed.

Severability Clause

  • If any provision of this Act is declared invalid or unconstitutional, the rest of the Act remains effective.
  • The invalidity of a provision does not affect its application to other persons, groups, or situations.

Effectivity

  • The Act takes effect upon approval.
