Operationalization and Funding of Courts
- The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, in coordination with the Secretary of the Department of Justice, must include the new courts in their operational programs immediately.
- Funds for the operation of these courts are to be appropriated and released only upon the actual organization of each court and the appointment of its personnel.
Transfer of Pending Cases
- All pending cases from Sinabacan and Tudela municipalities shall be transferred to the newly created Fourth Municipal Circuit Trial Court.
- Pending cases originally in the Municipality of Jimenez shall be transferred to the Third Municipal Circuit Trial Court.
- These cases shall continue to be tried and decided in their new respective courts.
Amendments to Existing Judiciary Law
- This Act specifically amends Section 14(k) and Section 29 of Batas Pambansa Blg. 129, also known as the Judiciary Reorganization Act of 1980.
- It repeals, modifies, or amends any laws, decrees, orders, rules, regulations, or issuances inconsistent with this Act.
Effectivity and Publication
- The law takes effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in the Official Gazette or a newspaper of general circulation.
Legislative Process and Enactment
- The Act originated in the House of Representatives and was passed there on February 20, 2018.
- The Senate amended the bill and passed it on May 27, 2019, with the House concurring on June 3, 2019.
- It was approved by the President of the Philippines on August 22, 2019.
