The PRC Board of Marine Engineer Officers Resolution No. 14, S. 1999 allows applicants who qualified under the old Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering curriculum to take the Fourth Engineer Officers Licensure Examination until July 2001, provided they have relevant practical experience.

Revised Qualification Requirements Effective Five Years After Approval of P.D. No. 97

Repeal of P.D. No. 97 by R.A. No. 8544

  • P.D. No. 97 was repealed by R.A. No. 8544, the Philippine Merchant Marine Officers Act of 1998, effective February 25, 1998.

Transitional Provisions under the 1978 STCW Convention Amended Annex

  • Until February 1, 2002, certificates issued under previous provisions before February 1, 1997, may still be recognized and renewed.
  • Applies to seafarers who started approved seagoing service or training before August 1, 1998.
