Proclamation No. 833 dated April 27, 2005, amends Proclamation No. 224 dated December 28, 1999, by transferring the ownership and administration of a parcel of land formerly owned by the Philippine Jai-Alai and Amusement Corporation to the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS).
The property has an area of 6,470.30 square meters, more or less, situated in the District of Ermita, City of Manila, Island of Luzon. It is covered by Transfer Certificate of Title No. 122150.
The President is authorized to convey real property belonging to the Republic of the Philippines to government agencies under the Public Land Act (Commonwealth Act No. 141, as amended), Presidential Decree No. 1445, and the Administrative Code of 1987.
The parcel of land was originally owned by the Philippine Jai-Alai and Amusement Corporation before ownership reverted to the Republic of the Philippines.
The property was originally intended for the construction of the City of Manila Hall of Justice.
Proclamation No. 224 declared the ownership of the property as vested in the Republic of the Philippines and directed the Register of Deeds of the City of Manila to cancel TCT No. 122150 and issue a new title in the name of the Republic of the Philippines, represented by the Office of the President.
The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has the ownership and administration of the property after the amendment by Proclamation No. 833.
The Supreme Court yielded the property to the GSIS in exchange for the site of the former GSIS Manila office, accommodating the needs of both parties.
The Register of Deeds of the City of Manila is instructed to cancel TCT No. 122150 and issue a new title in the name of the Government Service Insurance System.
