Q&A (CSC MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 06, S. 1995)

The physical fitness project mandated is known as "The Great Filipino Workout."

"The Great Filipino Workout" was adopted pursuant to Proclamation No. 528.

The primary purpose is to inculcate the importance of a healthy lifestyle and a regular regimen of physical fitness activities to reduce the risk factors of heart diseases.

All Heads of Departments, Bureaus, and Agencies of the National and Local Governments, including Government-Owned and/or Controlled Corporations, are required to adopt and implement "The Great Filipino Workout."

Government agencies must allot reasonable time weekly for physical fitness exercises for officers and employees, include physical fitness exercises during seminars and training, adopt plans for ongoing fitness activities, and submit monthly reports of implementation to the Civil Service Commission.

The monthly reports must be submitted to the Civil Service Commission through the Human Resource Development Office.

It is part of the national policy "Sports-For-All" under the National Fitness and Sports Development Program of the government.

By promoting regular physical fitness activities, it aims to develop a healthy and alert workforce among government officials and employees, thus supporting the overall program's objectives.

Memorandum Circular No. 38, series of 1992 of the Civil Service Commission sets the guideline for allotting reasonable weekly time for physical fitness exercises.

It took effect immediately upon its adoption on April 20, 1995.
