The positions of Chief State Prosecutor, Assistant Chief State Prosecutor, Senior State Prosecutors, State Prosecutors, and District State Prosecutors are appointed by the President of the Philippines with the consent of the Commission on Appointments.

Each judicial district shall have one District State Prosecutor who shall be permanently appointed thereto.

The District State Prosecutors are under the supervision of the Chief State Prosecutor.

The annual salary of the Chief State Prosecutor is P23,000.00.

Their qualifications and rank shall be the same as a provincial fiscal.

The law provides specific annual salaries for prosecutorial complementary personnel such as supervising administrative assistant (P10,200.00), supervising senior stenographic reporters (P9,000.00 each), senior stenographic reporters (P7,800 each), junior stenographic reporters (P7,200), secretary (P7,800), sheriff (P5,400), clerks, janitor-messengers, legal research attorneys, stenographers, clerk-typists, and process servers with varying salaries.

For a first-class province or city, Provincial or City Fiscal receives P22,200.00, First Assistant P18,000.00, Second Assistant P16,800.00, Third Assistant P15,600.00, Fourth Assistant P14,400.00, Fifth Assistant P13,200.00, and Other Assistants P12,000.00 per annum.

The salaries decrease according to the class of the province or city, with first class provinces having the highest salaries and fourth class provinces having the lowest fixed salaries for Provincial and City Fiscals and their assistants.

The Act appropriates such sums as may be necessary out of any funds in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated to carry out its provisions.

Republic Act No. 6407 took effect upon its approval on October 4, 1971.
