QuestionsQuestions (PRC BOARD FOR SOCIAL WORKERS Resolution NO. 03)
Section 11, Article IV of R.A. No. 4373, as amended, provides that, except as otherwise specially allowed, all applications for registration as social workers shall be required to undergo a written examination.
Section 13, Article III states that the examination shall consist of a written test.
It requires the Board to determine and prescribe the scope of the written test by taking into consideration the curriculum of all social work courses offered in schools legally constituted in the Philippines.
The resolution states that every syllabus containing the concepts/topics with the corresponding level of knowledge or proficiency shall be the basis for the question bank.
The National Association for Social Work Education, Inc. (NASWEI) was consulted.
The resolution cites the Board’s quasi-legislative power under Section 8, Article II of R.A. No. 4373, as amended.
The Board resolved to prescribe, adopt, and issue the Social Workers Licensure Examination Syllabi (Annex “A”).
It resolved to widely disseminate and circularize the resolution to all schools/colleges offering the course of Social Work.
Its effectivity is reckoned upon approval by the Commission after fifteen (15) days following its publication in the Official Gazette or any newspaper of general circulation, whichever is earlier.
It states that the effectivity must also be on a date that is three (3) months before the scheduled licensure examination.
The resolution indicates that effectivity is reckoned only upon the Commission’s approval, after the specified publication period.
The resolution states that the text of Annex “A” is available upon request at the Office of the National Administrative Register (ONAR), U.P. Law Center, Diliman, Quezon City.
It states the syllabi were utilized as guides and references based on prescribed books and readings used in the schools/colleges offering Social Work.
The resolution was adopted on April 19, 1994, and it was signed by Filipinas R. Altuna as Chairman.
The resolution expressly links the syllabus (concepts/topics and proficiency levels) to the question bank, meaning the syllabus determines what topics and difficulty levels should appear in exam questions.
