It transmits for reference and guidance the Romanian standard rules on foreign exchange and lei import and export limits, based on a dispatch from the Philippine Embassy in Bucharest sent to the BSP Governor through the DFA.
Natural persons and those representing legal persons, whether Romanian or foreign citizens.
Declaration is required for amounts exceeding the equivalent of US$1,000.00 up to a maximum equivalent of US$10,000.00 per person and journey.
It is placed in the custody of Romanian customs authorities, and the customs officer issues a receipt showing the depositor’s particulars, amount, date, and officer’s stamp.
Within three (3) years from the depositing date.
Upon expiry, the amount goes to the State budget revenues.

The excess must remain with customs authority, which issues a receipt, and the amount is released upon re-entry within three (3) years or otherwise goes to the State budget revenues after the period.

Only banknotes in lei below 5,000.00 may be brought in and taken out of Romania.
