Q&A (EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 468)

The main purpose is to revitalize the Volunteer Probation Aide (VPA) Program of the Parole and Probation Administration to strengthen community involvement in crime prevention, treatment of offenders, and the administration of criminal justice.

The Parole and Probation Administration (PPA) is primarily responsible for the VPA Program.

Volunteers must be citizens of good repute and probity to be recruited, selected, trained, and appointed as Volunteer Probation Aides.

Presidential Decree No. 968, otherwise known as the Probation Law of 1976, as amended, authorizes the appointment of Volunteer Probation Aides.

Their roles include assisting the PPA in the supervision and rehabilitation of offenders and contributing to crime prevention efforts.

The PPA coordinates with the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Philippine National Police Community Relations Office, National Police Commission, Liga ng mga Barangay, Department of Social Welfare and Development, and National Prosecution Service among others.

The PPA is directed to review and establish new rules and regulations governing the VPA Program, subject to the approval of the Secretary of Justice.

Within ninety (90) days from the effectivity of the Executive Order.

Funding will come from the available funds of the Parole and Probation Administration.

They are repealed or modified accordingly to harmonize with the provisions of EO No. 468.
