To serve as the coordinator and clearing house of all government initiatives for the 500th anniversary of the Philippines' role in the first circumnavigation of the world, the victory of Lapulapu in the Battle of Mactan, and other related events known as the 2021 Quincentennial Commemorations in the Philippines (2021 QCP).
The Executive Secretary is the Chairperson of the National Quincentennial Committee.
The Committee shall undertake study, conceptualization and implementation of relevant programs, act as principal coordinator, serve as information clearing house, constitute subcommittees, undertake fundraising, call on government agencies and private entities for support, and perform other functions directed by the President.
They must be Filipino-centric, multidisciplinary, and communicative and transformative.
To coordinate and monitor project implementation, represent the Committee in meetings, supervise administrative support, and perform assigned functions.
Funding shall come from the NHCP funds and, if necessary, the Contingent Fund, subject to existing budgeting, accounting, and auditing laws, and subsequent requirements included in NHCP's budget proposals.
The Committee shall cease to exist after liquidation and turnover of documents to the NHCP, or 12 months from December 31, 2021, whichever comes earlier.
Orders, rules, or regulations inconsistent with EO No. 103 are repealed or modified accordingly, except for provisions of EO No. 55 that remain in effect.
