The President of the Philippines issues an executive order reorganizing the Integrated National Police, placing it under her command and supervision for the purpose of maintaining peace, law, order, and public safety.

Executive Order No. 379 realigns the functions of supervision and control over the Integrated National Police (INP) pursuant to Section 31, Chapter 10, Book III of Executive Order No. 292.

The national police force shall be administered and controlled by a national police commission.

The INP shall be subject to the command, supervision, and control of the President and shall function under the Office of the President.

The National Police Commission exercises administrative control and supervision over all units of the Integrated National Police.

The Executive Order took effect immediately upon issuance on November 24, 1989.

Book IV, Title VIII, Subtitle II, Chapter I, Section 18 and Chapter 11, Section 63 of the Administrative Code of 1987.

The President of the Philippines has continuing authority to reorganize the Office of the President per Book III, Chapter 10, Section 31 of the Administrative Code of 1987.

The national police force shall be civilian in character and national in scope.

The Integrated National Police shall function directly under the Secretary of National Defense and be subject to the command and supervision of the President.
