Republic Act No. 5168 shall be known as the "Public School Teachers Salary Standardization Act of 1967."

Public school teachers include persons actually engaged in classroom teaching, those performing administrative or supervisory functions over instruction or subject areas, or particular schools or districts in the Bureau of Public Schools and the Bureau of Vocational Education. It also includes officials and employees in the Bureau of Private Schools who perform supervisory functions and whose salaries are paid from national funds.

Section 3 fixes the minimum to maximum rates of compensation of officials and employees covered under this Act in accordance with schedule 'B' attached to the Act.

The salary schedule is structured by position classification grouped into groups I to XVIII with corresponding salary ranges fixed from minimum to maximum rates as specified in Section 4 and its attached schedules.

The salary adjustment from existing rates to the new minimum rates shall cover a period of five years, starting with the existing minimum rate of the range of the position to the minimum rate under the new schedule as indicated in Schedule 'A'.

The salary progression from minimum to maximum consists of four steps, each succeeding step granted automatically after three years of service, not to extend beyond ten years subject to conditions under Section 8.

An amount of Twenty Million Pesos (P20,000,000) annually for five years starting fiscal year 1969-1970 is authorized for initial salary adjustment, and Five Million Pesos (P5,000,000) annually for ten years after the full adjustment for progression from minimum to maximum salary rates. Deficiencies shall be covered from aggregate savings of the bureaus concerned.
