Republic Act No. 6506 is "An Act Creating the Board of Examiners for Criminologists in the Philippines and for Other Purposes," which requires the examination, certification, and registration of qualified applicants for the practice of the criminology profession.
The Board of Examiners for Criminologists is responsible, under the supervision of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
The resolution promulgated the syllabi for the subjects included in the Licensure Examination for Criminologists to standardize the scope and content based on consultation with educational institutions and relevant associations.
The Board acted pursuant to its powers vested under Section 2 of Republic Act No. 6506.
Memorandum Circular No. 8, series of 1992; Memorandum Circular No. 92-03, series of 1993; and Memorandum Circular No. 93-04, series of 1993, all issued by the Professional Regulation Commission.
The preparation was done in consultation with various criminology schools, the accredited professional association, and took into account the curriculum approved by the Department of Education, Culture and Sports (DECS).
The formulation of test questions for the question bank is to be based on the concepts, principles, and applications included in the adopted syllabi.
It became effective fifteen (15) days following its publication in the Official Gazette or any newspaper of general circulation.
The resolution was to be disseminated and circularized to all recognized schools, colleges, and universities offering the criminology course.
