Decision Date
Apr 23, 2003
The PRC Board of Fisheries establishes the syllabi for the licensure examination for Fisheries Technologists, outlining key subjects such as Aquaculture and Capture Fisheries, to ensure standardized testing and professional competency in the fisheries sector.

Q&A (PRC BOARD OF FISHERIES Resolution NO. 01-A)

The legal basis for the creation of the Board of Fisheries under the PRC is Section 12, Article IV of PRC Resolution No. 2000-664, Series of 2000.

The subjects covered in the licensure examination for Fisheries Technologists are (1) Aquaculture, (2) Capture Fisheries, (3) Post-Harvest Fisheries, and (4) Aquatic Resources and Ecology.

The purpose was to prepare the syllabi of the subjects for the licensure examination for Fisheries Technologists in consultation with heads/representatives of schools/colleges of fisheries, CHED, and BFAR.

It was promulgated on April 23, 2003.

The examination questions for the first Fisheries Technologists licensure examination on October 1 and 2, 2003, were to be prepared based on and within the scope of the adopted syllabi.

Copies are to be furnished to all schools, colleges, and universities (public and private) offering fisheries courses and to the Department of Agriculture.

The resolution takes effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation, whichever occurs first.

Memorandum Circular No. 08, Series of 1992 directed such adoption of syllabi for examination subjects by professional regulatory boards.

The resolution was attested by Carlos G. Almelor, Secretary of Professional Regulatory Boards, and approved by Antonieta Fortuna-Ibe, Chairperson, along with Commissioners Avelina Dela Rea-Tan and Leonor Tripon-Rosero.
