The price revision is pursuant to Section 65 (s) of Republic Act No. 8550 (the Philippine Fisheries Code), in accordance with Memorandum Circular No. 121 of the Office of the President and Department Order No. 66-90 of the Department of Finance.

The order covers tilapia fingerlings (sizes 24, 22, 17, 14), tilapia broodstock, common carp fingerlings (sizes 24, 22, 17, 14), and major carps fingerlings (sizes 24, 22, 17, 14).

For tilapia fingerlings size 24 (0.02 - 0.2 g), the price is P0.15 per piece. For size 14 (1.6 - 3.2 g), the price is P0.45 per piece.

The price for tilapia broodstock (0.02 - 3.2 g) is P1.00 per piece, and they are intended for hatchery purposes.

FAO No. 186 and existing price lists or administrative orders or parts thereof inconsistent with this order are amended accordingly and repealed to the extent of inconsistency.

This order took effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in two (2) newspapers of general circulation for two (2) consecutive weeks.

The order was adopted by EDGARDO J. ANGARA, Secretary; recommended by MALCOLM I. SARMIENTO, JR., Director of BFAR; and also signed by CESAR M. DRILON, JR., Undersecretary for Fisheries and Chairman of the NFARMC.

The revision aims to set just and reasonable rates sufficient to cover administrative costs in compliance with the government directives, including the Office of the President’s Memorandum Circular No. 121 and Department of Finance Order No. 66-90.

Memorandum Circular No. 121 of the Office of the President directed all departments, bureaus, and government-owned or controlled corporations to revise their fees and charges at just and reasonable rates sufficient to cover administrative costs.

The order requires that the price revision take effect only after publication in two newspapers of general circulation for two consecutive weeks, thereby informing the public and ensuring transparency.
