The PRC Board for Customs Brokers establishes guidelines for the Continuing Professional Education (CPE) program to enhance the professional standards and practices of registered and licensed customs brokers, following consultations with relevant organizations and educational institutions.

Republic Act No. 9280, known as the Customs Brokers Act of 2000, particularly Sec. 7 (k), Art. II, provides the basis for the Continuing Professional Education (CPE) program for customs brokers.

The objective is to prepare guidelines for the Continuing Professional Education (CPE) in coordination with the accredited professional organization to ensure the enhancement of the profession and maintenance of high professional, technical, and ethical standards.

The Professional Regulatory Board for Customs Brokers has the power to look into conditions affecting the practice of customs brokerage, adopt measures for enhancement and maintenance of standards, and conduct ocular inspections as stated in Sec. 7 (g), Art. II of R.A. No. 9280.

The Board is tasked to formulate, prescribe, issue, and promulgate the Guidelines and Procedure in the Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Program for registered and licensed customs brokers.

The Board consulted the Chamber of Customs Brokers, Inc. (CCBI) and the deans/heads of schools/colleges/universities offering the customs brokerage course.

The Board approved the resolution on July 22, 2008.

The Resolution shall take effect fifteen (15) days following its complete and full publication in the Official Gazette or any daily newspaper of general circulation in the Philippines.

Copies were directed to be furnished to the CPE Council for Customs Brokers, the Chamber of Customs Brokers, Inc. (CCBI), and the Deans/Heads of schools/colleges/universities offering the customs brokerage course.

Colleges and universities offering the course of customs brokers are involved in the CPE program.

Republic Act No. 9280 mandates the preparation of CPE guidelines in coordination with accredited professional organizations.
