RA 481 is an act to provide more efficient dental care for the personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
Within three months after the date of enactment.
To provide for greater autonomy of the dental service, in accordance with the provisions of the Act.
The Chief of the Dental Corps through appropriate directions.
They should be referred to the Dental Corps of the AFP.
It must: (1) establish professional standards and policies; (2) issue instructions and conduct inspections/surveys to maintain standards; (3) initiate and direct actions relating to dental service and related matters including facilities, equipment, supplies, research, tables of organization, planning, and personnel; and (4) submit estimates of funds needed to maintain the Dental Service.
All Medical Service Budgets must provide for a separate allocation of funds for the maintenance of the Dental Service.
An officer of the regular force of the AFP not below the rank of Lt.-Colonel, with at least fifteen (15) years of continuous service.
Not lower than the rank, pay, and allowances of a Colonel.
The dental surgeon of such headquarters or installation, who is directly responsible to the Commanding General/Officer.
Not less than two officers for every thousand of the total authorized strength of the AFP from time to time.
It shall consist of commissioned officers of the same grades and proportionately distributed among such grades as are (now or hereafter) provided for the Medical Corps.
Dental Corps officers shall have the rank, pay, and allowances of officers of corresponding grades in the Medical Corps.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict herewith are repealed, and nothing in RA 481 reduces the grade or rank of any person.
