A

Q&A (EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 162)

It implements provisions from the Basic Agreement on the ASEAN Industrial Cooperation Scheme (AICO) signed in Singapore on 27 April 1996.

Philippine Auto Components, Inc. (PAC) from the Philippines and Denso Thailand Co., Ltd. from Thailand are the participating companies.

Products include fan assembly and shroud assembly, evaporators for air-conditioning machines, upper/lower tanks for aluminum radiators, and core subassembly for aluminum radiators.

The preferential tariff rate provided is 3% for the specified parts and components under the AICO scheme.

The rates became effective on 12 November 2002 for the Thai AICO entity and the Executive Order took effect immediately upon signing, dated January 10, 2003.

If the MFN rate is lowered below the AICO rate, the lower MFN rate automatically applies to the articles listed in Annex A.

A Certificate of Origin - Form "D" is required to prove qualification under the Rules of Origin for the CEPT.

The COE No. Denso/2002/6 certifies the eligibility of participating companies in the Denso AICO Arrangement to avail of the preferential tariff rates.
