Republic Act No. 9356, known as the "Charter of the City of Meycauayan."

The City of Meycauayan is bounded on the southeast by the City of Caloocan, the Municipality of Valenzuela and Malinta Estate; on the southwest by the Municipality of Obando; on the northwest by the Municipality of Bulacan; and on the north by the municipalities of Bocaue and Marilao, all in the Province of Bulacan.

The City has perpetual succession, may sue and be sued, have and use a corporate seal, acquire, hold and convey real or personal property, enter into contracts/agreements, and exercise other powers subject to laws.

The vice mayor assumes the mayoralty in case of vacancy; the highest ranking sangguniang panlungsod member succeeds as vice mayor. Ranking is based on proportion of votes obtained.

The city mayor appoints heads of departments and offices with the concurrence of the majority of sangguniang panlungsod members, subject to civil service laws.

Ordinances are forwarded to the mayor for approval or veto; if approved or the mayor does not act within 10 days, they take effect 10 days after posting in conspicuous places.

Convicted of crimes involving moral turpitude within 5 years, removed from office, dual citizenship, fugitives, permanent residents abroad, insane or feeble-minded persons.

An annual report summarizing City management, administration, development, political, social, and economic conditions; supplemental reports when unexpected events such as disasters occur.
