Republic Act No. 9860 integrates the Bicol University Gubat Extension Campus in the Municipality of Gubat, Province of Sorsogon, as a regular branch of Bicol University located in Legaspi City, Albay.
After integration, it shall be known as the Bicol University Gubat Campus.
The objectives include providing quality and affordable higher education and developing relevant technology and academic programs to accelerate socioeconomic development in the Province of Sorsogon.
The campus shall offer Bachelor of Elementary Education, Bachelor of Secondary Education, BS in Computer Science, BS in Food Technology, and Diploma in Agricultural Technology. It may also offer forestry, fishery, and other relevant courses as deemed necessary by the Board of Regents.
The Board of Regents of Bicol University has full administrative control over the Bicol University Gubat Campus.
The Board can determine the organizational structure, academic programs, research and extension programs, qualifications and number of academic personnel, enrollment, and other matters pertaining to the administration and operation of the campus.
The Municipality of Gubat is responsible for identifying the proposed campus site to be incorporated as the Bicol University Gubat Campus.
The parcel of land will revert to the Municipality of Gubat.
The funding necessary for initial implementation shall be charged against the current year's funding provided by the Municipality of Gubat, which shall continue assistance until full funding is incorporated in the annual General Appropriations Act.
The Board must file a detailed report on the actions taken pursuant to the integration with the Office of the President through the Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education and both Houses of Congress.
The Act took effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in two newspapers of general circulation.
If any part of the Act is declared invalid or unconstitutional, the remaining parts shall continue to be in full force and effect.
All laws, presidential decrees, executive orders, rules, regulations, and other issuances inconsistent with this Act are repealed or modified accordingly.
