The EO states it was issued “by virtue of the powers vested in me by law” under the President’s authority to issue executive orders.
The EO institutionalizes peace education in basic education and teacher education to promote a culture of peace, consistent with the Constitution’s policies on peace, equality, justice, and freedom, and the government’s peace agenda.
DepEd must mainstream peace education in basic formal and non-formal education; CHED must introduce and mainstream peace education in teacher education.
DepEd must mainstream peace education in the basic formal and non-formal curriculum using existing peace education exemplars and other peace-related modules, and enhance knowledge and capability of supervisors, teachers, and non-teaching personnel through in-service trainings.
They are developed peace education materials for elementary and high school; EO No. 570 directs DepEd to utilize the existing exemplars and other peace-related modules in mainstreaming.
OPAPP must collaborate with DepEd and CHED to strengthen linkage with private schools (Section 3) and, together with DepEd and CHED, establish/enhance mechanisms and appropriate funds to ensure sustained implementation (Section 4).
CHED shall introduce and mainstream peace education in teacher education.
To strengthen linkage with private schools so they can participate in promoting peace education, in collaboration among OPAPP, DepEd, and CHED.
They must establish/enhance mechanisms and allocate appropriate funds in their respective departments for sustained implementation of peace education in the educational system.
It includes private schools indirectly through Section 3, which requires OPAPP, DepEd, and CHED to strengthen linkage with private schools to promote peace education.
All issuances, rules, and regulations inconsistent with any provision of EO No. 570 are repealed, amended, or modified accordingly.
It shall take effect immediately (Section 6).
Executive Order No. 3 (series of 2001) and the Medium-Term Philippine Development Plan 2004–2010 are cited, along with support for the United Nations’ Declaration and Programme of Action on a culture of peace.
It supports that EO No. 3 calls for building and nurturing a climate conducive to peace through peace advocacy and peace education programs.
OPAPP established partnerships with public and private schools and non-government organizations in promoting and implementing peace education.
