Question & AnswerQ&A (PRC BOARD OF MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY Resolution NO. 11, S. 2009)
The main purpose is to prescribe guidelines for the implementation of a refresher course for candidates who have failed the Board Licensure Examination for Medical Technologists three times, as mandated by Section 19 of R.A. No. 5527, as amended.
A candidate can take the examination a fourth time only after completing a twelve (12) month refresher course in an accredited laboratory as prescribed by the Board of Medical Technology.
The course of study was prepared by the Board of Medical Technology in consultation with the Philippine Association of Schools of Medical Technology & Public Health (PASMETH) and the Philippine Association of Medical Technologists (PAMET).
The course shall be offered and administered by schools, colleges, or universities whose Medical Technology courses are recognized or accredited by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
Schools or universities must obtain from the Board of Medical Technology a Certificate of Accreditation to offer and operate the refresher course.
The candidate must submit an authenticated copy of the Certificate of Completion of the Refresher Course.
The Certificate is valid for two (2) years from the date of issuance and can be used for not more than three (3) examinations. After that, a new certificate is required.
The Resolution took effect fifteen (15) days after its full and complete publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation in the Philippines.
Copies were to be furnished to the deans of schools, colleges, and universities offering Medical Technology programs, the President of PASMETH, and the President of PAMET for dissemination to concerned individuals or sectors.
