The Guidelines on Cooperative Name Reservation provide instructions for reserving or amending cooperative names with the Cooperative Development Authority in the Philippines, including the submission of a request form, payment of fees, and the issuance of a reservation notice.

It is issued pursuant to Article 9, paragraph 1 of Republic Act (RA) 9520 (Philippine Cooperative Code of 2008) and Section 3(j) of RA 6939.

No cooperative name shall be allowed if identical or deceptively or confusingly similar to that of any existing cooperative, contrary to public policy, moral, and existing laws.

It must incorporate the word “cooperative” and specify the type in accordance with the economic activity.

The use of “development,” “integrated,” “incorporated,” or other similar connotation is not allowed.

CDA shall develop and implement a computerized system to prevent duplication of cooperative names and to facilitate an effective and efficient process of cooperative name reservation.

Fifteen (15) days upon approval of the Board of Administrators and submission of a copy to the Office of the National Administrative Register.
