Manila City Ordinance No. 8344 grants free medical care to barangay officials, city government employees, lawfully arrested individuals, senior citizens, and Manila Police District personnel and their dependents in all city-owned hospitals.

The main purpose is to grant free medical care to certain individuals in all city-owned government hospitals within the territorial jurisdiction of the City of Manila.

a) All barangay officials and their immediate dependents below 18 years of age; b) All employees of the City Government of Manila; c) Persons lawfully arrested by police officers and barangay officials; d) Senior citizens actually residing in Manila; e) All uniformed and non-uniformed personnel of the Manila Police District.

Persons lawfully arrested can only avail of medical care in relation to their arrest as provided under Section 2 of the ordinance.

The free medical care includes: a) Medical Check-up and Medical Certificate; b) Professional fees; c) Subsistence; d) Medicines; e) Medical Attendance; f) Surgery or surgical expenses; g) X-rays; h) Laboratory fees; i) Other hospital expenses.

Per the Separability Clause (Section 4), other parts or provisions not affected will continue to be in full force and effect.

Yes, Section 5 states that all ordinances, rules, and regulations inconsistent with this ordinance are amended accordingly.
