Manuel L. Quezon establishes a salary schedule for Philippine Army officers, setting minimum and maximum pay rates effective February 1, 1938, to ensure proper compensation within the military ranks.

Q&A (EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 140)

Pursuant to the provisions of section ninety of the National Defense Act.

The maximum salary for a Major General is 7,800.00 pesos.

The salary range for Brigadier Generals is from 6,600.00 to 7,200.00 pesos.

A Captain earns between 2,700.00 to 3,000.00 pesos.

Each individual officer’s salary shall be fixed in a plantilla of officers of the Philippine Army to be prepared and approved as required under the relevant provisions of Commonwealth Act Numbered 246.

The minimum salary for a Third Lieutenant is 1,800.00 pesos.

The salary rates became effective on February 1, 1938.
