December 14, 2004, is declared as Fire Service Recognition Day to recognize the vital role played by firefighters in protecting the life and property of the public.
The JCI Philippines in collaboration with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Civil Service Commission, Safety Organization of the Philippines, Inc., Citizens Patrol 117 Movement, and the Philippine Chamber of Fire Protection Industry, Inc., among others.
To acknowledge and appreciate high-performing firefighters and to stress their significant contribution to Philippine society.
The DILG reaffirms its commitment to ensuring the safety of the community, supporting firefighters' roles.
The BFP supports the commitment to community safety and collaborates in the search for outstanding firefighters.
Firefighters sacrifice their lives daily to protect the life and property of the general public.
The JCI Philippines has traditionally conferred the TOYM (The Outstanding Young Men) and TOPP awards, among others.
The proclamation is made by the President by virtue of the powers vested in her by law.
