The Prime Minister is the Chairman of the National Committee.
The Acting Minister for Foreign Affairs is the Vice-Chairman of the National Committee.
The National Committee is tasked to prepare the groundwork and preparations for the anniversary celebration, call upon assistance from other government agencies and the private sector, plan, supervise, and coordinate special events and activities, and set up working committees for sectoral programs relating to UN activities.
The Minister of the Budget and Management is directed to release a reasonable amount to support the financial requirements of the National Committee.
The committee includes officials from various government departments such as Foreign Affairs, Agriculture and Food, Education, Health, Trade and Industry, Local Government, Tourism, Natural Resources, Social Services, Transportation, Budget and Management, Media Affairs, Economic Development, Science and Technology, Telecommunications, Postal Services, Role of Filipino Women, Youth Year Committee, and the United Nations Association of the Philippines.
To highlight and focus attention on the important role of the UN in promoting international cooperation, peace, security, development, and improving quality of life over the past forty years.
The Philippines is one of the original signatories to the UN Charter and has actively participated in its activities since its establishment in 1945.
The goals are to promote interest among Filipinos in the UN's work, support its activities, and foster appreciation for the benefits the country gains from its membership in the organization.
