The overarching goal of the YEP is to develop the entrepreneurial skills of the youth to contribute to nation-building by encouraging their participation and organization of business enterprises.
The National Youth Commission (NYC) formulated the Youth Entrepreneurship Program pursuant to its mandate under R.A. 8044.
The main components of YEP include: Entrepreneurship Education, Credit Assistance and Lending, Role Modeling and Mentoring, Business Plan Development and Training, Market Syndication and Linkaging, and Business Information Network.
The Secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry serves as the Chairman of the Council.
The private business sector plays a critical role in ensuring the success of entrepreneurship programs by participating in the implementation and institutionalization of YEP, including providing mentors and role models.
Five government agencies represented include the Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Education, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of the Interior and Local Government, and the Department of Agrarian Reform.
It exposes youth to business personalities worth emulating, establishes mentor-apprentice relationships, organizes activities for learning, and provides insights on market trends and business opportunities.
The members of the Council identify or develop youth-oriented entrepreneurship programs consistent with their mandates for enrollment under YEP, classified under the major components of the program.
Section 31, Chapter 10, Title III, Book III of Executive Order No. 292 (Administrative Code of 1987) grants the President continuing authority to reorganize administrative structures, including amending Executive Orders.
All Executive Orders and other issuances or parts thereof inconsistent with Executive Order No. 470 are repealed or modified accordingly.
