: September 1, 1957, marks the signing into law of the Social Security Act of 1954, establishing a mechanism for providing social security to Filipinos.
: The SSS celebrated its 46th anniversary as the lead institution administering social security programs for private sector workers, informal sector, overseas contract workers, and self-employed individuals.
: The period from September 1 to 7, 2003, was declared as "Social Security Week."
: All departments, agencies, instrumentalities of the national government, local government units, government-owned and controlled corporations, government financing institutions, the mass media, and the entire citizenry.
: To stimulate public awareness on social security protection matters, encourage active SSS membership, highlight the role of SSS in developing universal and equitable social security protection, and promote the importance of SSS programs and benefits.
: The SSS is the lead institution administering social security programs and providing protection to private sector workers, informal sector workers, overseas contract workers, and self-employed individuals.
: Programs promoting the importance of SSS membership, information on benefits available to members, and the role of the SSS in nation-building.
: It is in the national interest to increase public awareness so that every citizen takes personal responsibility in improving their economic and social conditions through active SSS membership.
