November 16, 2015, is declared as President Elpidio Quirino Day in commemoration of his 125th birth anniversary.
The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) was designated as the lead agency for the celebration.
The NHCP may convene an inter-agency task force to plan, coordinate, and effectively implement all programs, projects, and activities related to the event.
All departments, agencies, bureaus, offices, national government agencies, local government units, government-owned or -controlled corporations, and educational institutions at all levels are enjoined to support and cooperate with the NHCP.
Funding for the activities shall be sourced from the regular budget of the concerned agencies.
Elpidio Quirino was the 6th President of the Philippines, serving from April 15, 1948, to December 30, 1953. He also served as Congressman, Senator, Secretary of Finance, Secretary of Foreign Affairs, and Vice President.
The purpose is to commemorate the birth anniversary of a former president, recall his exemplary statesmanship, rekindle Filipino spirit through lessons of history, and encourage citizens to emulate and honor forefathers.
It was signed in Manila on February 10, 2015, by President Benigno S. Aquino III and Executive Secretary Paquito N. Ochoa, Jr.
