The Province of Sarangani and the City of General Santos in Mindanao, Philippines are declared as area free from the Mango Pulp Weevil and Mango Seed Weevil.
It was promulgated under the authority vested in the Director of the Bureau of Plant Industry by PD 1433, known as the Plant Quarantine Decree of 1978.
The movement, transfer, and carrying of mango planting materials, fruits, or parts thereof into Sarangani and General Santos is prohibited except in limited quantities and for experimental purposes, requiring a permit from the Director of the Bureau of Plant Industry or an authorized representative.
Checkpoints around the boundaries of Sarangani and General Santos have been established, and the Director of BPI may request assistance from national, provincial, municipal, barangay officials, and the Armed Forces to enforce quarantine measures.
All companies engaged in land, water, and air transportation are prohibited from carrying mango planting materials or fruits into Sarangani and General Santos, except for those covered by the permit conditions.
Violators may be fined up to Php 20,000 or face imprisonment from prision correccional to prision mayor, or both, at the discretion of the court, under Section 23 of PD 1433.
This order took effect fifteen (15) days after its publication as required by law.
Yes, it supersedes and revokes orders or other issuances that are contrary to or inconsistent with it.
