Republic Act No. 9177 declared Eid al-Fitr as a regular holiday throughout the country.
Eid al-Fitr is celebrated by the Muslim world for three days following the end of the fasting month.
The purpose is to promote cultural understanding and integration, allowing Filipinos to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in the observance and celebration of Eid al-Fitr.
The declaration is made by the President by virtue of the powers vested in him by law.

Executive Secretary Paquito N. Ochoa, Jr. signed the proclamation alongside the President.

The proclamation was signed in the City of Manila.
