Republic Act No. 6488 is an act creating certain municipalities in the Province of Leyte, Philippines, by separating barrios from existing municipalities and constituting them into distinct and independent municipalities.
The barrios of Almeria, Tabunan, Talahid, Pili, and Gaukab in the Municipality of Kawayan, along with the barrio of Jamoraon in the Municipality of Naval, were separated to form the Municipality of Almeria.
The seat of government of the Municipality of Almeria is located at the present site of the barrio of Almeria.
The barrios of Cabucgayan, Balaquid, Bunga Pawican, and Talibong from the municipalities of Biliran and Caibiran were separated to form the Municipality of Cabucgayan.
The provisions creating the Municipality of Almeria took effect on August 12, 1948.
The Municipality of Cabucgayan is bounded on the North by a line from the peak of Mt. Lauan to the mouth of Asug Brook at Carigara Bay; on the East and South by the limits of the municipal waters pursuant to the Revised Administrative Code; and on the West by the Manlaunan River to its source, then a line from this source to the peak of Mt. Lauan.
The Municipality of Tabango was created by separating barrios from the Municipalities of San Isidro and Leyte.
The seat of government of the Municipality of Tabango is at the present site of the barrio of Tabango.
The barrios of Culaba, Bool, Acaban, Habuhab, and Pinamihagan from the Municipality of Caibiran constitute the Municipality of Culaba.
The provisions creating the Municipality of Culaba took effect on October 16, 1953.
The boundary starts at Tabunan River following its course, then running straight to half of the old Kawayan-Caibiran boundary line, as shown in the sketch map by L.C. Magos.
The law was enacted without the Executive approval on June 17, 1972.
The sketch maps, such as those made by L.C. Magos and submitted by district engineers, serve as references to define and clarify the boundaries of the newly created municipalities.
