The purpose of Executive Order No. 247 is to create the municipality of Marabut in the Province of Samar.
The municipality of Marabut was created pursuant to the provisions of section 68 of the Revised Administrative Code.
The municipality of Marabut consists of the southeastern portion of the municipality of Basey, Samar.
The boundaries are: on the northwest by the Cabugao River from its mouth on San Pedro Bay to its source, then a line to the intersection of Basey’s east boundary and Borongan’s southern boundary; on the northeast by the Basey-Llorente boundary; on the southeast by the Basey-Balangiga boundary; and on the south and southwest by the municipal waters as defined in section 2321 of the Revised Administrative Code.
The municipality of Marabut contains the barrios of Santo Niño (the seat of government), Pinamitinan, Osmeña, and Legaspi, and the sitios of Malobago, Amanbucali, Hilaba, Pag-ubogon, Cabalagnan, Pinanaan, Odoc, Binocyahan, Canyoyo, Kinamatayan, Tinabanan, Calouayan, Opong, Cancalao, Cabugao, and Iraya.
The municipality of Marabut begins to exist upon the appointment and qualification of the mayor, vice-mayor, and a majority of the councilors.
The municipality of Basey shall have its present territory minus the portion included in the municipality of Marabut.
The order was signed by President Elpidio Quirino.
The limits of the municipal waters are pursuant to the provisions of section 2321 of the Revised Administrative Code.
The boundaries were described using data from the 1939 Census Atlas of the Philippines, the Bureau of Coast and Geodetic Survey Map of Samar (1940), and a rough sketch map submitted by the petitioner.
