The Municipality of Lapinig, Samar was created by Executive Order No. 281 dated October 13, 1949.
It was created upon the recommendation of the Secretary of the Interior and pursuant to section 68 of the Revised Administrative Code.
Territory was taken from the municipalities of Gamay and Oras and the municipal district of Jipapad, all in the province of Samar.
It began to exist upon the appointment and qualification of the mayor, vice-mayor, and a majority of the councilors thereof, but in no case earlier than November 15, 1949.
The seat of government is at the barrio of Lapinig.
The boundaries are described by geographic points including lines running from the shoreline near the mouth of Gamay River, intersections of rivers and trails, points near the poblacions of Can Maria and Catumsan, and the limits of municipal waters pursuant to section 2321 of the Revised Administrative Code.
The barrios included are Cagamutan, Potong, Pio del Pilar, Canomanio, Look, Lapinig, Can Maria, and Catumsan.
The sitios included are Cahugwayan, Palanas, and Mabini.
They retain their present territories minus the respective portions included in the Municipality of Lapinig.
President Elpidio Quirino signed the executive order, with Teodoro Evangelista as Executive Secretary.
