Executive Order No. 196, dated November 17, 1965, created the Municipality of Mangagoy.
The Municipality of Mangagoy is located in the province of Surigao del Sur.
The barrios of Mangagoy, Mampaya-an, New Bohol, Guicob, Tabon, and Lawigan all formerly part of the Municipality of Bislig.
The creation was pursuant to Section 68 of the Revised Administrative Code and upon the recommendation of the Provincial Board of Surigao del Sur.
The municipality of Bislig retains its present territory minus the portions included in Mangagoy as delimited in the Executive Order.
The municipality begins to exist upon the appointment and qualification of the Mayor, Vice-Mayor, and a majority of the councilors.
The seat of government is at the barrio of Mangagoy.
The boundaries start from the eastern shore of Mancarogo River at its mouth; follow upstream the Mancarogo River; from the source, a straight southwestern line to Bislig River; upstream along Bislig River to the boundary line of Bislig and Lingig; along that boundary northeast to the shoreline; then along the shoreline northwest to the point of beginning.
The creation as proposed in House Bill No. 2821 was approved by the House of Representatives.
The Executive Order was signed by President Diosdado Macapagal.
The Acting Executive Secretary, Salvador L. Mariao, signed it by the authority of the President of the Philippines.
