Republic Act No. 9424 is an Act creating four additional Metropolitan Trial Court branches in the City of Marikina, National Capital Region, amending Section 27 of Batas Pambansa Blg. 129, also known as the Judiciary Reorganization Act of 1980, as amended.
There are eighty-six (86) branches of the Metropolitan Trial Court in the National Capital Region.
There are six branches of Metropolitan Trial Courts with seats in the City of Marikina, and an additional four branches were created by this Act, totaling ten branches.
The Supreme Court has the authority to assign the additional four branches of the Metropolitan Trial Court in the City of Marikina.
The Chief Justice, in coordination with the Secretary of the Department of Justice, shall include in the Court's program the operationalization of the four additional branches of the Metropolitan Trial Courts in Marikina.
The funding for the additional branches is to be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.
The Supreme Court shall issue the necessary rules and regulations for the effective implementation of the Act, including the realignment of seats and territorial jurisdictions of existing branches if warranted.
Section 5 repeals or modifies all general and special laws, acts, decrees, executive orders, proclamations, and administrative regulations or parts thereof which are inconsistent with the provisions of this Act.
The Act took effect upon its approval on April 10, 2007.
