The main purpose of Batas Pambansa Blg. 162 is to convert the Mlang Municipal High School in the Municipality of Mlang, Province of North Cotabato, into a national high school to be known as the Mlang National High School.
The Mlang National High School is required to offer a comprehensive curriculum that includes both academic and vocational courses.
The Minister of Education and Culture is empowered to organize the Mlang National High School accordingly.
Upon the organization of the Mlang National High School, the assets, liabilities, personnel, equipment, and records of the Mlang Municipal High School shall be transferred to the Mlang National High School.
The Mlang National High School is to be made operational on the first school term after the effectivity of the Act.
An amount of two hundred thousand pesos for the operation of the school shall be charged to the appropriations authorized by Batas Pambansa Blg. 80 for the Ministry of Education and Culture intended for new national schools.
Thereafter, such sums as may be necessary for the operation and maintenance of the school shall be provided in the annual General Appropriations Act.
Batas Pambansa Blg. 162 took effect upon its approval on February 8, 1982.
After conversion, the Mlang National High School falls under the Ministry of Education and Culture.
The Act provides that all assets, liabilities, personnel, equipment, and records of the former municipal high school are transferred to the new national high school, ensuring continuity and smooth transition.
